Pinkerton

I’m back with a vengeance for food. Yes, from now on this barely-touched blog will also  cover my food ventures and experiences- the good, the bad, and everything in between.

As a sweet tooth, ice cream is my first love. Who doesn’t love ice cream? As I did my usual food research online, I came across this local homemade ice cream brand, Pinkerton. I found it interesting that they sell ice cream online- commonly, people sell cupcakes, brownies, macarons, etc. At this point I knew I had to try it.  What really got me was their out of the ordinary flavors! It triggered my curiosity.

The first one I wanted to try was the Red Velvet just because I love the red velvet flavor.
With my two loves combined (ice cream and red velvet) it was like a (red velvet) dream. If this were part of the tasting quiz in Hell’s Kitchen I’d definitely answer right away and with a smile. It’s rich, creamy, chunky, and the sweetness was just right. Something I could eat all day while watching Community. Although as a lover of red velvet (the flavor) I demand more chunks!

The next flavor that caught my attention was the Candied Maple Bacon.
Bacon in ice cream? Interesting. Personally, it’s not something I’d eat if I were craving for something sweet. Though it sure will satisfy my sweet tooth in the morning if I replace my bacon with this to pair with my waffle. It’s something I’d want to start my day with.

The name “Honey Rosemary” was not able to excite me. But my first spoonful did hence it became my favorite! My family’s favorite too.

It is an amazingly refreshing ice cream that gives you a punch of rosemary. I am in awe at how they managed to balance the creaminess. Eating this ice cream won’t make you think of the guilt of eating an ice cream only the pleasure.

With this ice cream, Carrot Cake flavored ice cream, you will really be present to their “No Skimping” policy.
I love a carrot cake with lots of walnuts and this ice cream gives you a bit every spoonful. It’s gives you either a walnut, a carrot cake chunk, or both. Eating a carrot cake has never been this divine.

Other flavors that I tried were:
Salty Caramel

Guava Basil Sorbet

Food for the Gods

One of the things I liked best about their ice cream was the apparent execution of their “No skimping” policy. They also were able to very well balance the sweetness to each flavor. If I’d like to eat something sweet for the day I can choose between eating it in solid form or in a much better ice cream flavor. It’s not like your usual Ben and Jerry’s or Haagen Dazs, this is homemade and everything is always better made at home.
